Descripción de D-DOT SERVICE ISSUES BACK IN THE DAY [Video-2]:
Although bus service in Detroit has improved tremendously in recent years, things have not always been rosy for D-DOT (the city of Detroit's transportation department). Over the years —— beginning around the mid-1970s and well into the mid-to-late'80s —— the city's transit system would encounter numerous obstacles and would struggle to maintain adequate service. In this video clip from the Summer of 1978, WJBK-TV2 "Eyewitness News" takes a first-hand look at some of the service problems facing Detroit bus riders, as reporter Robbie Timmons (now with WXYZ-TV) takes a bus ride on the D-DOT #23 Hamilton bus route. Her bus trip begins at the Northland Mall Shopping Center in suburban Southfield and ends at the ol' Tiger Stadium ballpark in Downtown Detroit. This is the second in a series of upcoming videos from back in the day. Other videos will look at the continuing struggles the city's transit department faced, and their attempts to overcome those issues. (video posted for educational purposes only) BTW—I do want to apologize for the poor quality of this video. My old "rabbit ears" TV antennae wasn't working too well on that day——some 30 years ago.
